Compton rapper Game's fourth album, The R.E.D. Album, has been delayed several times. But now, fans may have to wait even longer, due to a new lawsuit attempting to halt its release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, a company called Desperado Entertainment recently filed a lawsuit against the rapper's (real name: Jayceon Taylor) record labels, claiming they were behind Game's discovery and helped turn him into a star, so they're entitled to cash.
Aftermath Entertainment, Interscope, Universal Music Group and Dr. Dre's ARY, Inc. are all named in the suit.
Desperado claims that they tried to work with the UMG labels, but they were cut out of the development of the new album in violation of its rights of approval.
They say the labels have breached the agreements by failing to account and pay proper royalties, citing "budget overages' for all LPs but have not provided supporting documentation," according to the complaint.
"Royalties from the sale of Game LPs have never been paid to Plaintiff," the suit reads.
The lawsuit doesn't specify the ammount in royalties owed or damages they are seeking, but a letter attached to the complaint demands an immediate $275,000 "advance" payment on the new album.
The R.E.D. Album was originally set to drop in late 2009, but has since had several delays. It's most recent date is August 24, but with the recent lawsuit, it may be pushed back further.
The album features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Akon, Gucci Mane, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga, Nelly Furtado and Lil Wayne
